Focusing on children and youth who face barriers to social inclusion, we facilitate meaningful relationships that transform young people’s experience of school and community in order that they build self-worth, competencies, and strong mental health. Most of us have some experience in feeling lonely or isolated — especially at school: Struggling to fit in, hoping to make friends, and wanting to be involved! For one reason or another, this can be a struggle, and the results can be devastating to our kids’ health and self-worth. In buying this card, you are helping us to run our Amigos program in local schools — helping kids and teens develop the meaningful connections and lasting friendships that will change their lives. We know that healthy peer relationships are key to a good education, and we want to see every person have an experience like that.

Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region is a local non-profit organization helping families and individuals build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. With the help of generous volunteers, donors, and partners, Habitat for Humanity builds and rehabilitates single-family homes to multi-unit developments to provide safe and decent housing in the Peterborough and Kawartha Region. Our model of affordable homeownership bridges a gap for low-income, working families and individuals, by providing them with the opportunity to purchase their own homes. Since 2002, we’ve provided a hand-up for 82 families into affordable homeownership. With your help, 13 more families and individuals can build better lives for themselves and their children, building a foundation for healthier families and communities.
